Some received bills for waste management at those real estate addresses, which they no longer have for a long time, for others the bills increased two, three or even four times. There are residents who have received reports that their annual fee for municipal waste management already amounts to more than 600 euros. However, the municipality claims that there is no such exorbitant price increase after all, that mistakes were made when issuing the bills, so don’t rush to pay the bills!
The bills amount to 600 euros
After receiving the bills for municipal waste management, the residents of Kedaine flooded the editorial office with complaints, not understanding why the amounts have increased so dramatically. People did not avoid taking solace in social networks and, of course, turning to the municipality itself.
Lina, who received a bill of 406 euros for the year, took comfort in not understanding how her bill could have increased almost four times – last year, a family of three paid only 112 euros for the transportation of municipal waste.
But later, after carefully examining the bill, she saw that the number of the municipal waste container was not even indicated on the bill.
On the social network, people consoled themselves by receiving even bigger bills – they have to pay more than 600 euros alone.
Residents are concerned that waste removal has not only become terribly expensive, but has also become rarer – if earlier in the city municipal waste was transported from their own properties every week, now it is every second.
In the village, waste is transported only once a month, and during the year the residents are consoled by still having to pay bills amounting to 100 euros.

“Since before this, the taxation of municipal waste holders was linked to residents or the activities of companies, the parameters of taxation in most cases were not linked to real estate objects, and after the new procedure came into force, the local fee is set for all holders of municipal municipal waste, who own real estate objects in the municipality’s territory , which are divided into categories of real estate objects”, says the municipality.
The municipality also explained that the changes in the waste collection and billing management information system resulted in system errors, due to which the local fee for the collection and management of municipal waste for part of the population was generated in the system inaccurately.
Although the municipality, which is headed by Mayor Valentinas Tamulis, does not admit it directly, but probably in this situation, when people received bills with so many errors, which caused a real shock and damaged so many nerves, the fact that the reorganization of departments took place in the municipal administration quite recently played a significant role , and some employees who worked on the waste removal system were dismissed or transferred to other positions.
It is obvious – the cost of waste management has increased brutally, the bills are full of errors, and the municipality has not even apologized to the residents, as if such things, when it is not the first time that the nerves and patience of the residents have become strained, are already becoming the norm in the municipality of Kėdainiai district.
The municipality corrects mistakes
The municipal administration also stated that in an exemplary case, if, before the system was changed, a person living alone in a village in a detached house paid 16 euros per year, then from this m. April 1 must pay 25.44 euros per year (if you have one real estate object).
Residents who believe they have received incorrect bills should not pay them and wait for a correction.
“Currently, employees of the Kėdainiai district municipality administration, together with the service provider of the waste collection and payment management system, are carrying out troubleshooting, after which the corrected payment notifications will be sent by e-mail repeatedly,” says the municipality.
If a person has already paid the tax and only later noticed that there was a mistake, there is no need to do anything additional – the overpayment will be credited to future local toll payments.
If a person wants to recover the overpayment, he must submit a written request to the municipality, and then the overpayment will be returned.
