The Murder of Swedish Gang Leader in Sarajevo and the Three Detained Swedes: What We Know

by time news

The murder of a Swedish gang leader and the targeting of a 22-year-old in Sarajevo have shaken both Bosnia and Sweden. The murdered gang leader had previously survived an assassination attempt in Istanbul, which was seen as the beginning of a wave of violence and a high-profile split within the Foxtrot network.

According to the police intelligence service in Bosnia, the suspected perpetrators followed the gang leader from Istanbul to Sarajevo and were professionals, leaving behind few traces of evidence. Three Swedes have been detained in connection with the crimes.

The first, a 19-year-old from Malmö, has been suspected of several crimes during the wave of violence, including murder, attempted murder, and aggravated weapons crime. He was taken into care as a 13-year-old due to his criminal behavior and behavioral problems.

A relative of the 19-year-old from Malmö expressed disbelief at the accusations, saying, “I cannot imagine that he is guilty of these crimes.”

The second detainee is a 19-year-old from Jordbro, Haninge, who has previous convictions for drug offenses and fraud. He was also suspected of aiding and abetting murder as a 17-year-old and has been charged with aiding and abetting attempted murder earlier this year.

A relative of the 19-year-old from Jordbro, Haninge, claimed to have had no contact with him for a year.

The third detainee is a 22-year-old from Norrköping who was the target of the attack in Sarajevo. He was shot but survived the incident.

The details of the case continue to unfold as the investigation progresses, leaving both Bosnian and Swedish authorities on high alert.
