A group of experimental archaeologists are attempting to reproduce tools found in a burial of Avicenna in Seine-Saint-Denis.

In 2002, during preventive excavations organized in Avicenne, on the construction site of the current hospital in Bobigny, a necropolis of around a hundred tombs was brought to light. A tomb was then distinguished from all the others by the finds that accompanied the deceased. After several years of study, scientists concluded that most of these objects were musical instruments, making this approximately sixty-year-old individual, who died in the 3rd century BC, the oldest musician in the Celtic world!

In 2021, the department of Seine-Saint-Denis commissioned the Priae company, specialized in experimental archaeology, to digitize and reproduce all the objects of this burial. The team is now entering the home stretch.
