Rod Stewart will be 80 years old next year. The British singer has now shared his thoughts about the last phase of his life.

In January 2025, Rod Stewart will celebrate a milestone birthday. With 80 years in sight, the singer with the raspy voice explains: “I know my days are numbered, but I’m not afraid.” He hopes for another 15 years – and wants to enjoy them. But that also means paying more attention to his health.

In an interview with the British newspaper “The Sun”, the rock star continued: “We all have to die at some point, so we’re all in the same boat.” He has resolved: “I’m going to enjoy the last few years as much as I can. I’d say a few – probably another 15.” He can do that “easily”.

He is far from retiring. In 2024, Rod Stewart travelled through Europe as part of his “One Last Time” tour and also gave concerts in Leipzig, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and MünchenHis show “The Hits” at “Caesars Palace” ends on August 7th after 13 years. He still drinks “like the devil” after a performance – but no longer until the early hours. “I’m not the guy from the seventies and eighties anymore and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go crazy and still have a voice like that. Nowadays I have to take care of my voice before and after every show.” However, he welcomes it when his team celebrates extensively.

Stewart, who has survived both prostate and thyroid cancer, is trying to be a little more sensible himself: “I pay more attention to my health now than I used to.” You should do that as you get older. “It’s very important.” He is even “a bit of a hypochondriac” and appreciates the “advantages of wonderful medical science.” When he returns to Great Britain, he wants to have a blood purification procedure. “Because I’ve been told that it really strengthens the organism.”

But he doesn’t need tablets. “Sometimes I take an anti-inflammatory when my knee is giving me problems, but very rarely.” He keeps himself “very, very fit” and has had the same trainer for 31 years. “We train three to four times a week.” Even after his last performance in Las Vegas, the sporty Stewart will not be bored. He is also already planning a tour of Great Britain with pianist Jools Holland.

And then there’s the big party in January. “I left my 80th birthday to my beloved wife Penny, but she has big plans that I’m not allowed to talk about. I don’t even know what they are. I’ve basically just left it to her.” All of his children and grandchildren are involved. “They know, and I don’t.”

On that day, the father of eight will certainly look back on his career and his private experiences. The balance is positive: “I had a great time and a great life and I enjoyed it. I couldn’t wish for more.” At most, he hopes that he and his family will be healthy. He also hopes that his favorite Scottish football club, Celtic Glasgow, will be successful.
