Bercy will make public “in the next few days” the names of influencers “who did not respect the rules”a measure that is intended “deterrent” to fight against commercial abuses on social networks, announced Wednesday, May 3 the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire. “We have checked 50 influencer sites since the beginning of the year, that’s three times more than what we did in normal years”, he pointed out on Franceinfo.
Stating that, on these 50 controlled sites, « 30 infractions » had been observed, Bruno Le Maire announced that “sanctions, injunctions, criminal proceedings” would be engaged and “the names of the influencers who did not respect the rules” would be made public “in the next few days”
In a press release published immediately after of the Minister’s intervention, Bercy specified “that none of the 30 influencers was transparent about the commercial nature of their approach and the identity of the person on whose behalf they were acting”.
This dragnet will lead in total to “18 injunctions to cease illicit practices and 16 criminal reports “, said the ministry.
In the National Assembly last week, the deputies unanimously adopted a transpartisan text to regulate the controversial commercial practices of influencers on social networks. The bill must be presented to the Economic Affairs Committee in the Senate on Wednesday and must be submitted to the vote of the High Assembly on May 9.
