Namibia captain Johan Deysel has been suspended at least five matches after his uncontrolled tackle during the 2023 World Cup on France XV captain Antoine Dupont, victim of a broken jaw, World Rugby announced on Tuesday September 26.

The suspension of Deysel, 32, is to last six matches, but it can be reduced to five matches if the Namibian center three-quarter agrees to participate in a tackling training program, the world rugby body said in a statement.

Antoine Dupont was operated on Friday evening at the Purpan University Hospital in Toulouse after his jaw fracture. The French Rugby Federation dreams of a return to the field soon. For this type of injury, however, the convalescence time can be up to several weeks.
