The environmental group will launch a commission of inquiry on Tuesday into these bodies affected by multiple cases of sexual violence and corruption.

Sabrina Sebaihi wants “dust off the federations”. The ecologist deputy, member of the Nupes, is at the initiative of a parliamentary commission of inquiry on sports federations after the multiple scandals which have scratched the image of sports bodies. The environmental group will thus present this Tuesday, June 6, to the National Assembly, its draft Commission, revealed the elected official in the columns of the team .

“Transparency”

While the scandals have not spared the sporting world in recent months, with in particular accusations of gender-based and sexual violence within the gymnastics, ice sports and football federations, or cases of corruption having targeted rugby in particular , the elected ecologist wants to investigate the dysfunctions that affect these bodies.

The environmental group has in mind in particular the future sporting events organized in France, namely the Rugby World Cup in the fall and the 2024 Olympic Games. “Will parents continue to trust the federations?asks Sabrina Sebaihi to RMC. French sport must make its moult”. The elected Hauts-de-Seine claims to be “worry” and demand more “transparency”.

To do this, the commission, which will be formed within a month and composed of 30 deputies, intends to focus on several areas: corruption, sexual and gender-based violence and racial, homophobic or gender discrimination. Several personalities will be interviewed, such as victims of aggression or discrimination, political leaders and, of course, members of the management of federations. A summons to a commission of inquiry cannot be refused.
