The National Bank has prepared changes on how companies and individual entrepreneurs handle cash. The changes will take effect from January 1, 2024.

“In particular, individual entrepreneurs are given the right to independently determine the procedure and timing for depositing cash in Belarusian rubles, regardless of how often they arrive at the cash desk (constantly, non-constantly),” the National Bank clarifies.

The regulator also prescribed details of how businesses should accept commemorative banknotes and bullion coins for payment for goods and services. They will still be accepted, but with a few conditions. For example, that there is no damage to them.

“Coins of all denominations are accepted, including commemorative and bullion (investment) coins that do not raise doubts about their authenticity, including those with minor scratches, metal scrapings, abrasions, pinholes, burrs, minor damage in the form of general darkening of surfaces, local stains, lack of shine on surfaces,” says the National Bank document.

The National Bank also prescribed that companies and individual entrepreneurs, when paying with other legal entities and entrepreneurs in cash through bank cash desks (with subsequent crediting of money to the account), can deposit no more than 100 basic units in one day (today this is 3,700 rubles). We are talking about such a payment to one company or individual entrepreneur.

As the regulator explains, the changes were introduced to optimize the work of business entities with cash. “The adopted changes will help improve the conditions for economic activity in Belarus,” the regulator notes.
