Describing it as the “largest international strategic” project, the Sirte Development Authority announced that the dual international coastal road will be paved in two directions, with a width of 4 lanes, and Sirte will be the nucleus and center of its first launch.

The agency indicated that the project comes within a package of development projects, explaining that paving will be done in three directions, as its first phase will be 50 kilometers long in the western direction of Sirte, and at the same distance and timing, it will be paved in its eastern sector.

According to the agency, the project will witness many diversions, tunnels, bridges and expansion within the city of Sirte, noting that the project will be supported by the implementation of some turning islands and safe exit in some road bottlenecks.

At the end of each distance of the first phase, official stations designated for road service fees will be implemented, and there will be accompanying service establishments, including cafes and a fuel refueling service. According to observers of a rich oil-rich country like Libya, it is inappropriate for its administrations and officials to brag about paving a road and building bridges over it, as these projects are service services and are available in the poorest countries in the world, and cannot be accepted as international strategic projects.
