The ‘Narciso Beleño’ Agrarian Reform day, which took place this Saturday, delivered nearly 6,000 hectares of land to rural families from eleven municipalities in the country and 163 titles for the formalization of rural property. San Jacinto (Bolívar), Montería and Chinú (Córdoba), Caucasia (Antioquia), Corinto and Popayán (Cauca), Puerto Lleras (Meta), Pailitas and San Alberto (Cesar), San Sebastián de Buenavista (Magdalena) and Pitalito (Huila) ) were the points in which more than 1,500 families received a new opportunity with the delivery and formalization of fertile soils.

The marathon, which was carried out simultaneously from the different regions of the country, was led by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jhenifer Mojica, and the director of the National Land Agency, Felipe Harman, along with other entities of the System National Agrarian Reform.

The day takes its name in recognition of the peasant leader murdered in Santa Rosa del Sur (Bolívar), on April 21. It is a tribute to leaders murdered in their fight for the land and the well-being of their communities.

«Today there is a sample of what Agrarian Reform is. Today, more than 1,500 people and families receive a second chance at life, because Agrarian Reform is not just about buying land. Clearly it is our commitment, and it is the unavoidable commitment of President Gustavo Petro, his most important legacy,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jhenifer Mojica, from Montería.

“Along the way, many have been left behind and we have lost them. Along the way, many leaders were persecuted and sent into exile. While those who displaced them shared with the government at that time. Of course Colombia has an urgency to carry out Agrarian Reform, because it is justice. Agrarian Reform is about giving the opportunity to the second or third generation of the eight million displaced families who lost everything. For this reason, Agrarian Reform is unstoppable, because Colombia cannot continue creating a new citizenship if we do not repair the past,” the minister emphasized.
