Whether it is sports federations, clubs, associations or athletes, the national sports family has joined the spirit of solidarity instilled by HM King Mohammed VI, notably through the creation, on High Royal Instructions, of the Special Fund for the management of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

This is how the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) was the first to contribute to the Special Fund. Through this contribution of 2 million dirhams, the CNOM confirmed its full support for all the efforts made by the Kingdom to mitigate the repercussions of this health crisis.

Like the CNOM, the Royal Moroccan Athletics and Boxing Federations have each chipped in by contributing 500,000 dhs to the Special Fund.

For its part, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided, in coordination with the National Leagues of Professional Football (LNFP), Amateur Football (LNFA), Women’s Football (LNFF) and Diversified Football (LNFD) as well as the Regional Leagues, to donate 10 million dirhams to the Fund.

Other contributions to the Fund followed, notably from the Royal Moroccan Federations of Karate (100,000 dhs), Tennis (100,000), Kick-boxing, Muay-Thai, Savate and related sports (200,000 dhs), Cycling, Handeball (200,000 dhs) and Motor Sports (100,000 dhs). The latter also made all its medical staff available to the Ministries of Culture, Youth and Sports, Interior and Health in case of need.

Solidarity initiatives were not limited to financial contributions, but the national sports family was also involved in operations to support coaches, athletes and employees in various fields related to the disciplines affected by the repercussions of this crisis.

In this regard, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation has created a fund to combat the repercussions of the suspension of sporting activities on people working on golf courses.

For their part, the Royal Moroccan Taekwondo Federation and the Jiu-Jitsu Federation have launched solidarity initiatives with coaches whose only income comes from coaching in gyms affected by the closure decision.

The mobilization was also strong on the side of Moroccan clubs which joined the efforts to face the crisis caused by Covid-19, by organizing online sales of virtual match tickets, the proceeds of which were entirely donated to the Special Fund dedicated to the management of the new coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to their financial contributions, Moroccan clubs have, from the first days of this crisis, joined efforts to raise awareness about the pandemic, with a view to helping to raise awareness of the importance of prevention in the preservation and health security of Moroccans.

Some Federations and clubs have also made their sports facilities, spaces and centres available to the competent authorities, in order to exploit them in the manner they deem appropriate to overcome this difficult period.

The ultras of the various Moroccan clubs, for their part, joined the wave of solidarity to call for the cohesion of all the components and vital forces of the Nation and for respect for the confinement and the instructions of the authorities.
