The national football team resumed training in Basra today, Saturday, in preparation for the match against Kuwait in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The Iraqi Football Association stated in a statement received by the (INA) that “all players were present in the training unit except for Ali Jassim, as the technical staff preferred that the player continue recovery exercises at the residence, in preparation for the match against the Kuwaiti national team, next Tuesday, in the third round matches (second round) of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.”
The statement added that “the training was attended by the head of the Iraqi delegation, Younis Mahmoud, the second deputy president of the federation, and members Mohammed Nasser and Ahmed Al-Moussawi,” noting that “it is hoped that the national team will undergo the last training session in Basra tomorrow evening before heading to Kuwait next Monday, where it will undergo a main training session at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.”
