Garne was born on March 26, 1941 in Riga, graduated from the 3rd secondary school in Riga, and after graduating from the Theater Faculty of the Conservatory in 1963, started working at the Latvian National Theatre, according to information on the website of the Latvian National Theatre.

The actress received the Alfred Amtmans-Briedīša award for her portrayal of Marga Salinas in Harija Gulbja’s “Squirrels”. She is also a Gambler’s Night winner for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Tituba in Arthur Miller’s Salem Witches.

Garne’s debut role was in Lēna Gunārs Priedes’s play “Mick and Deep”, which was staged in parallel with the performances of the diploma thesis and secured a place in the National Theater ensemble, the website dedicated to the centenary of the National Theater “100.teatris.lv” says about the actress.

However, alongside the positive heroines, Garne demonstrated a good sense of humor and played unexpectedly captured characters, which showed that interesting discoveries are expected in the second half of her life, digging deeper and deeper into the psychology of a woman.

It is emphasized that the Latvian mentality of the actress was manifested in the productions of the works of Latvian playwrights, especially in the plays of Hari Gulbja – she played Inta in “One fiery maple”, Dainuvīti in “Silta jauka ausainīte”, Ingrīda in “Cirulīš”, Sandra in “Alberta” and Stefanija in “Oliver”, Astra Jānis Jurkānas “Clock with Cuckoo”, Agnes “Hummingbird” and Velta “Dūdieviņa”.

Both brightly and tragically, she revealed the worlds of the characters of Rudolf Blaumanis – the business-like landlady Madi in “Saturday evening”, the bravura Eda inspired by freedom in “After the first rally”, the harsh, hard-working Ieva tortured for her mistress’s name in “Indrānos”, the tragic Ažu in “The Lost Son”. .

The life experience, temperament and mastery of the actress are most fully embodied in the roles interwoven with tragedy – Liena in “Mērnieku laikis”, Ponsia in “Bernard Alba’s house”, Miss Dalyja in “Moon’s waters”, reports “100.teatris.lv”.

Garne can also be seen in Latvian films “We are four” (1972), “If it wasn’t for this rainbow” (1980), “Rain blues” (1982), “Zītaru gītima” (1989) and “Depression” (1991).

In 2018, the actress received the Order of Three Stars for her contribution to theater and cinema.
