Libyan Foreign Ministry Responds to Egyptian Diplomatic Action
The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep dissatisfaction and rejection of Egypt’s recent diplomatic move of receiving parallel bodies not recognized internationally. While acknowledging the action has little practical impact, the ministry criticized its departure from the international consensus against dividing Libya.
The statement emphasized the Government of National Unity’s efforts to foster unity and stability in Libya, highlighting positive strides made in cooperation with various countries. The ministry expressed strong opposition to returning to the era of parallel governments and regional divisions that plagued Libya in the past.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed its commitment to respecting sovereignty, fostering good neighborliness, and upholding legitimate institutions as cornerstones for building strong international relations. It warned that unilateral measures could reignite tensions and conflict, holding the Egyptian government morally and politically accountable for such actions.
