Israeli Olympic commando unit, Shai Kakon, Won today (Thursday) the European Under-21 Championship in ILCA6 (Laser Radial) boats. In the competition, which took place in Hortin France, in the last six days there were 11 cruises and Kakon was positioned at the top already on the fourth day, and from there she did not look back. In the last three days of the competition, Cacon finished twice in fourth place, once in second and once in first place, which did not leave its rivals a real chance to threaten the gold medal in the last cruise of the competition.
At the end of last race, the traditional leap into the water, grabbed Kakun flag of Israel for a long time, as she sat in the boat. “Throughout the competition I felt this time it was mine. Although I managed to maintain a high level and stability throughout the days, in sailing everything could turn on you in one moment, so the pressure was on me until the last minute,” Cacon explained the excitement a lot. “The road is still long and I’m just at the beginning of the Paris campaign, but it’s a sweet start.”

Complimentary Kakun, aged 19, has represented Israel at the Olympics in Tokyo last year, where he finished 30th. Because of her young age she is eligible to participate in both the senior and youth championships (U21). Cacon is training under Italian coach Fabrizio Lazrini.
