Independent deputy Roberto Arroyo explains to RFI that the left and right had the opportunity to push forward a new Constitution, but ‘they were not able to propose something that really defends the people.’ The right-wing deputy Diego Schalper estimates, on the other hand, that the new draft Constitution ‘greatly improves the constitutional situation of the country’ on fronts such as public security, protection of the environment and the protection of women’s rights.
