The New Orleans Festival is back in full force in Tel Aviv

After a two-year hiatus due to the corona, the New Orleans Festival returns to the streets of Tel Aviv-Yafo for the fourth time, with more than 100 top artists from Israel, New Orleans, Paris, London, Berlin, Oslo and Singapore, who will bring back jazz and contempt To the streets of Tel Aviv on June 18-16, 2022.

This year’s festival will offer swing events from the 1920s, a tribute to the classic blues singers, the story of the Gaz over the years, a Berlin swing and more.
Among the artists of ‘Black Music’ and the ensembles that will perform in jazz, blues, gospel and swing: European Jazz Quartet, The New Orleans All Stars, Swing Dance Orchestra and many more.
As part of the festival and outdoor performances, there will also be a tribute to the giants of Hebrew music: Kobi Oshret and Nurit Hirsch, on the occasion of her 80th birthday.

Among the ensembles that will appear at the festival:

European Jazz Quartet – A tribute show to the ‘Kings of Jazz’ – Louis Armstrong and Sydney Basha, with the renowned international singer and French trumpeter – Jerome Etecheberry and his quartet. In this show, the audience will be able to get to know the best hits played and sung by Louis Armstrong and Sydney Basha, who were considered the undisputed kings of the beginning of jazz and those who were part of the jazz repertoire that went, evolved and matured into what it is today. ‘China Boy’, ‘Fantasy Dressed Up’ and ‘One More Day You’ll Be Sorry’ will be some of the hits that will accompany this show.

In Love with George ‘Gershwin’ – Trumpeter Jerome Achebri and singer from Singapore, Alemay Fernandez – in a first-of-its-kind collaboration in honor of the New Orleans Festival in Tel Aviv.

Swing Dance Orchestra – The swing band of the Berlin Armelin family, Which is considered the best swing orchestra in Germany. The Jewish pianist, Andrei Armlin, his wife Joyce, a native of Kenya, his daughter Rachel and son David, in a dance and song show in the style of the swing of the 1930s.

Hot Club of Norway – The mythical band from Norway combines different jazz styles alongside band members ranging from 21 to 71 years old.

Fanga Gospel Choir – With soloist Hillary Sergeant, a native of Trinidad (Caribbean), who moved to Israel many years ago following her musician aunt. The name Fanga, means power in the Bambra language, the language spoken in Mali, Africa. Their music has a lot of fire and revolutionary sounds.

The New Orleans All Stars & Christian Winther  – The best elite players in New Orleans. The New Orleans Star Ensemble, led by Christian Winter, is hosting a wonderful performance by the wonderful singer Yolanda Robinson. Robinson was born in New Orleans to famed mother Forms Chapman, a soul singer known for singing the soundtrack of the movie ’12 Years of Slavery ‘.
