The Ministry of Labor explains that this law, enacted on July 15, 2021, allows for two approaches to the implementation of the new maximum working day. The first option is immediate application from the entry into force of the law, which began a year ago. The second option is gradual implementation year after year.

The implementation schedule is as follows: From July 16, 2023, the working day was reduced by one hour. From 16 July 2024, the working week will be 46 hours. Then, on 16 July 2025, it will be reduced to 44 hours, and finally, from 16 July 2026, the maximum working week will be 42 hours.

The Ministry of Labour says the aim of this law is to improve labour productivity and address structural problems in the labour market, while trying to minimise any negative impact on the economy and the profitability of companies.
