Last night the new season of “Survival” aired, the opening shot was high and it seems that we are in for a particularly exciting and fascinating season. It is evident that new blood is flowing, and not only from the anonymous survivors who were revealed last night, but also from those who trust the editing of the reality show, because after years it was entrusted to new and refreshing hands that brought a different and different statement.

The game, the content, the idea, everything remains the same, but the value message is different. The format feels less violent, more light, entertaining and entertaining, aimed at family viewing, and I am not happy about that. In last night’s episode, the survivors set off, each member of the group jumped headfirst into the water (literally) with the meticulous suits and locks with which they arrived from the house straight to a raft full of a treasure box that includes a moth stone and a tarp. The burly men had to fight with their bodies for the loot found in the raft in an attempt to get their team the best start to the game.
In the previous seasons we have already seen in such events a lot of blood on our hands, severe violence between the survivors, unpleasant sights to watch that made us move uncomfortably on the living room sofa, but yesterday’s episode completely ignored everything that asked or felt like this, and chose to give the stage to Nir Regev’s amusing moments unsuccessfully trying to get on the boat, or of Daniel Zioni about to pass out in the water. Obviously there were violent moments there on the raft, they also later saw evidence and marks on the bodies of the survivors, but the editor chose to leave them on the floor of the editing room, and took a big risk that it would cost him the ratings.

I am very happy about the blessed change, I have written many times how much I have exhausted the negative messages that reality shows bring, especially the violent ones, because the rising violence in our society is, among other things, the product of trash reality shows, which provide a platform for low and violent content and make them legitimate, especially for the youth The consumers of programs of this kind.
The change in editing is evident not only in the violence. The new survivors were also presented with an entertaining lightness, one that made me interested in them and left a taste for more and not in exhausting profiles that in the past made me lose interest very quickly. From my years of experience reviewing reality shows, I feel that the army officer, Sahar Cohen, the hottie on duty on the island of Tal Mordi, the strong woman Doreen Dotan, the pension consultant Guy Shikar and the most beautiful smile on the island Guy Rosen, will reach the late stages of the game. But this is only a first impression and it is not enough.
Another change, less positive, was evident last night, one that could have caused the survivors who were eliminated in the game to use it as a bargaining chip against the production. This season, unlike previous seasons, the survivors were divided into tribes according to the production’s choice. As in the previous seasons, one representative was not chosen for each tribe who objectively chose all his teammates, but the production determined in advance who was with whom, and this is one big warning light, especially because four surviving good friends from home, who all participated in the wedding that took place just a few days before Sderot, were chosen To be all in one group – Maya Kay, Dorin Dotan, Sapir Kashti and Nevo Shamir. This is a step that goes beyond the limits of the survival agreement they signed, which forbids contacting other contestants before the game.
So the first day of the tribes started, and already in the yellow tribe, what’s the name, I don’t remember, they started making alliances under the direction of Maor Shoshan, and Dorin Dotan who marked themselves even before the season started. But Dotan’s place, as I remember, is guaranteed with three more survivors from the house, while Shoshan is less. By chance it happened last night, that the yellow team also lost the first task, so it seems that the first eliminated is already known, unless there are surprises at the last minute, because in survival like survival, we will never know until the moment of Guy Zoertz’s announcement.
