The new single-seater with which Ferrari will try to return to winning the Formula 1 championship

Time.news – Red and amaranth for redemption: the new Ferrari single-seater, the SF21, which features a two-tone livery, was unveiled with an online event. The classic red of the Cavallino together with an ‘amaranth’ tint.

A tribute to the history of Ferrari with the recall of the first racing car, the 125S. With the new single-seater, the Maranello-based manufacturer intends to face the next Formula 1 championship in the “winning spirit” of the founder Enzo Ferrari.

“2020 is behind us but it will not be forgotten, indeed it will have made us stronger. Here we are in 2021 we can’t wait to get back on track. It was exciting – said Ferrari president John Elkann in the presentation video of the car – to see how Charles and Carlos contributed together with our technicians and mechanics to the preparation for the season.

This excitement can be touched by hand. Everyone is eager to get the car out there and give it their all. Presentation is a very special moment. It is the moment of truth. All of us in Ferrari – is Elkann’s message to the Red fans – we want to assure you that we will honor the name of our founder Enzo Ferrari and that we will start the 2021 championship with his winning spirit ”.

The SF21, Scuderia Ferrari’s 2021 single-seater, has a shaded livery that “looks to the challenges of the future without forgetting its roots and values,” explains the Maranello-based car manufacturer.

The rear recalls the amaranth of the very first Ferrari, the 125 S. – says team principal Mattia Binotto – as you get closer to the cockpit, however, it fades into the contemporary red that has characterized our most recent years. This for us is the season of many challenges and through the livery we visually restart from our history but, at the same time, we project ourselves into the future ”.

The single-seater number 67 built in Maranello to compete in the next Formula 1 championship is an evolution of last year’s SF1000, as dictated by the regulations which, by requiring the same chassis to be maintained as in 2020, limited the possibilities for modification in many areas.

The SF21 has therefore been developed in all aspects allowed by the regulations: from the completely new engine to the aerodynamics, up to the rear end where the two development tokens allowed for this season have been used.

La SF21 will make its absolute track debut tomorrow in Bahrain in the so-called “Filming Day”, a 100 km session planned for the purpose of collecting images for partners and media. The youngest couple of Scuderia Ferrari drivers since 1968, formed by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, will alternate at the helm. On March 28, when the season kicks off, their average age will be 25 years and three days.

The two will then be engaged in the only pre-season test of 2021: three days on the Sakhir track in which they will alternate on the single-seater.

The new single-seater in the next Formula 1 championship, “was born from last year’s car for regulatory reasons, partly frozen. It is a car that we have tried to improve in all its areas, wherever possible”.

This was explained by Mattia Binotto, sporting director of the Red team in the online presentation video, speaking of a “revised aerodynamics” and a “completely new power unit”.

The SF21, and this year’s aesthetic novelty, “also changes in its livery. The rear recalls the amaranth of the very first Ferrari racing car, the 125S “and is the” same color that we used last year at Mugello to celebrate our thousand Grand Prix. This – concluded Binotto – is the season of many challenges: we start visually from our history but we look to the future, which is always characterized by our Ferrari red “.
