SAN VENDEMIANO (TREVISO) – They pedaled for over 7 thousand kilometers on the Silk Road from San Vendemiano to China, crossing Turkey, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan by bike. Nicola Peccolo and Marco Breda from San Vendemiano completed the “Dreaming of the Silk Road” project today, reaching Beijing. Nicola and Marco’s dream began in 2018, pedaling for 2,300 kilometers from San Vendemiano to Istanbul, and then continuing in 2019 from Cappadocia to Teheran for another 1,400 kilometers. The journey on the pedals then continued in 2022 along 2,100 kilometers between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, until the grand finale this summer from August 7 to today for 1,400 kilometers through China. “A feat with a strong symbolic appeal – said Tommaso Razzolini, regional councilor of Fratelli d’Italia – which is being realized in the year that celebrates the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo.
