Long-lasting rain is expected in Latvia at night. In the morning, the rain will be replaced by snow and sleet. The roads will be slippery in certain sections.
A gusty south-west, west wind will blow, which will gradually start to turn from the north-west, west in the second half of the night.
The strongest wind will be near the sea coast, where it will reach a speed of 25 meters per second in gusts. Forecasters have announced an orange warning for strong winds.
The weather will also be rainy and cloudy in Riga, raindrops will start to be replaced by snow in the morning. Moderate to moderately strong southwesterly, westerly winds will blow, gusting to 20 meters per second in the middle of the night.
The air temperature at night will be between 0 and +5 degrees.
The second day of January will pass with cloudy weather, precipitation is expected for the time being – mostly snow and sleet. In places where the snowfall will be heavy, a snow cover of five to nine centimeters will form.
Roads will be slippery in some sections and visibility will be reduced during snowfall.
A gusty northwest, west wind is expected, gusting to 15 to 19 meters per second. In the morning on the sea coast, the wind will reach a speed of up to 20 meters per second in gusts.
During the day, the maximum air temperature in most parts of the country will be between 0 and +5 degrees. However, during the day, as colder air mass enters the country, it will gradually become lower and lower.
In Riga, the day will be gray, but at times it will snow and a layer of snow a few centimeters thick will form. The wind will turn from the northwest, west and will blow slowly to moderate.
The highest air temperature will be observed in the morning, when the thermometer will rise to +1, +2 degrees, but it will become colder during the day.
