The next GTA game will “set a new standard for the gaming industry”

by time news

Take-Two, the distributor of Rockstar games, makes a clear statement and updates that the next GTA title is in the middle of the development process.

During a financial report, Strauss Zelnick, the company’s CEO, was quoted as saying: “While the next GTA game is in the middle of its development process, the development team at Rockstar is determined once again to set a new creative bar for the series, the gaming industry and for every industry. Entertainment in general, as it has been for every other previous game in the series.”

Let’s recall that the previous game in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released in September 2013, almost 9 years have passed since the release of the game, and at that time Red Dead Redemption 2 also arrived and especially support for GTA’s online mode. After the recent launch of GTA The Trilogy Definitive Edition, the developer has something to prove and show that it is still truly capable of surpassing itself and, in Zelnik’s words, “setting a new creative bar for the gaming industry.”

According to the latest reports on the subject, it is claimed that GTA IV will also introduce a Latina female protagonist for the first time. It will draw a lot of inspiration from Bonnie and Clyde, the infamous pair of criminals who operated in the USA during the Great Depression. This is a change that is not only intended to show consideration for gender conformity as is accepted today, but something broader and an attempt by Rockstar to adapt itself to a wider audience. Much criticism GTA games have been heard over the years due to the severe violent scenes and estimates that the next game will see many changes that will be adapted to the spirit of the times.

There’s no firm date for when the game will eventually launch, and while it’s expected to arrive sometime between the middle of next year and 2024, the gaming market has been going through a lot of upheaval and delays in recent years so it’s too early to tell.
