Former Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit, who just a week ago resigned, is in the process of receiving approval from an associate professor at Bar Ilan University.
If at the end of the process his appointment as an associate professor is approved, Mandelblit will serve as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Law at Bar Ilan. It will be recalled that Mandelblit did his doctoral dissertation at Bar-Ilan.
Mandelblit’s name has made headlines recently due to the explosion of the police spy affair on the phones of politicians and public figures. Former police commissioner Roni Alshikh responded to the storm over the wiretapping affair of which he is a key part, revealing that “wiretapping of public figures was done only with the approval of the ombudsman.”
Alsheikh said these things in a conversation with his associates shortly after Publication of the research – and completely rejected the allegations of improper use of spyware.
“There is no situation where someone can do any action without permission,” Alsich explained. “An order is opened, all logs are kept: who used it, what are his permissions? Only in case of danger to life, like murderers or someone we are in pursuit of, can a judge be told in retrospect that there was danger to life and that supervision (listening) was installed.”
Alsheikh also referred to the claim that advanced technology was also used in cases involving public figures, and shifted the responsibility to former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit: “The systems were built in such a way that they could not be deceived. And approve with him the request that I submit to the judge for the order. He can stop the move even before I even come to ask the judge for an order. “
