The next Vagif Poetry Days, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, will be held in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, Shusha, from July 17 to 19, the press service of the department told Day.Az.
The events will be attended by officials, literary, cultural and scientific figures, poets and writers from Turkic-speaking countries who are in our country on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan.
As part of the Vagif Poetry Days, events will be organized in various historical and cultural sites of the cultural capital of Azerbaijan – Shusha, including the Museum-Mausoleum of Molla Panah Vagif, restored by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as well as the Natavan House, the square in front of the Executive Authority of Shusha and the Shusha Hotel-Congress Center.
It should be noted that on January 14, 1982, with the participation of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the grand opening of the mausoleum and poetry house of the great poet and statesman Molla Panah Vagif (1717-1797) took place in Shusha. It was at this event that the great leader Heydar Aliyev, supporting the initiative of the writers, gave the order to hold the Days of Vagif’s Poetry.
The poetry festival was first organized in July 1982. The Vagif Poetry Days, which have a 42-year history, are being held for the fourth time in Shusha, which has been liberated from occupation.
