The next version of Windows is already deep in development, arriving in early 2024

A few months ago, a rumor circulated online about a change in Microsoft’s plans for future operating systems: the company, according to the same report, has moved to a much faster model and will launch a brand new operating system every three years. Now comes another report supporting this change, this time precisely from the chip manufacturer Intel.

This is a leak concerning the future Meteor Lake S processors, which Intel is expected to launch during the first half of 2024. Among the many details that this leak includes, including support for up to 20 PCIe Gen5 type expansion slots, the name of the Windows 12 operating system also appears as one of the operating systems which the processor is expected to support.

This is a rather intriguing item, since from the point of view of Microsoft and probably Intel as well, Windows 12 does not officially exist yet. The report indicates that it seems that the engineers at Intel already have a good idea of what Microsoft’s future operating system is expected to include, and they are already working on developing processors that will be able to take advantage of these capabilities for the benefit of the users.

In the past it was hinted, not surprisingly, that Windows 12 is developed with a huge emphasis on artificial intelligence and its ability to assist the user naturally. It can be guessed that the new version of the Bing search engine, which was already integrated into Windows 11 in the update that the company recently distributed, will become an even deeper and more essential part of Microsoft’s future operating system.
