In this broadcast of the Night of NTR, presenter Mirthe van der Drift and astronomer Annelotte Derkink unravel a piece of one of the many secrets of the universe. Annelotte is one of the twelve new ‘Faces of Science’ of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. She blogs and vlogs about her PhD research at the University of Amsterdam. In that research she studies the formation of large stars. Those stars are generally 8 times more massive than the Sun.

And what better way to start such a broadcast than with a look at the starry sky? Although it is doubtful how much of it was on display that night…
