The anti-doping court suspended Pogba on September 11, 2023, and on October 6, the positive test was confirmed, before he was excluded for 4 years in February of this year.
The court issued a decision to reduce the penalty from 4 years to 18 months, so that he will be able to start training with the team in January 2025, and participate in matches starting next March.
Pogba said in statements reported by Sky Sport Italia: “The nightmare is finally over, after the arbitration court’s decision. I look forward to the day when I can pursue my dreams again.”
He added: “I have always maintained that I never intentionally violated the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency when I took a nutritional supplement prescribed to me by a doctor, which did not affect or enhance my athletic performance.”
The Frenchman continued: “I play fairly, although I must accept that this is a crime that requires strict liability and I would like to express my thanks to the judges of the Court of Arbitration who accepted my explanation. It was a very painful period in my life, as everything I had done up to that point was suspended.”
He concluded: “Thank you again for all the love and support, and I can’t wait to get back on the field.”
