Palakkad | The no-confidence motion brought by the UDF members against Koppam panchayat president T Unnikrishnan was passed. The no-confidence motion was passed with the support of BJP member Abhilash. The vote of the BJP member will also be decisive in the forthcoming presidential election. The party ranks in Koppam panchayath are UDF eight, LDF eight and BJP one.

BJP district president KM Haridas has said that the Koppam BJP panchayat committee was dissolved and the panchayat member Abhilash was expelled from the party for registering a vote of no-confidence in the Koppam gram panchayat.

Incumbent President T Unnikrishnan said that the secret understanding of the Congress-League-BJP trio in Koppam panchayath has come out through this mistrust. He also said that for the past one year, the three fronts have been interfering in development activities.

The panchayat leaders along with the UDF said in a press conference that the no-confidence motion was part of the public outcry against the one-and-a-half-year rule. Transportation, electricity and housing infrastructure are stagnating and funds are running out. The UDF leaders said that the UDF did not need BJP support and that it was the CPM that got the help and appreciated those who took part in the no-confidence motion.
