The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, promised this Wednesday to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, with whom met in the province of Amurin the Russian Far East, his country’s help to fight “against imperialism”and predicted “a great victory” for Moscow in the war against Ukraine and its Western enemies.

“Russia has today stood up in defense of its national sovereignty and security to confront the hegemonic forces that oppose it. We wish to continue developing our relations. We have always supported and We continue to support all the decisions of President (Vladimir) Putin and the Government of Russia,” Kim said when meeting with Putin this Wednesday.

The meeting between both leaders aroused resentment in the United States and European powerswho fear that North Korea is going to provide Russia with its weapons – including nuclear weapons – to continue the war in Ukraine.

Kim expressed hope that North Korea and Russia will “always be together against imperialism,” adding: “I am sure that our meeting will mark another milestone along the way towards a new level of bilateral ties,” reported the Sputnik news agency.

The North Korean noted that “there are numerous areas to foster relations, particularly politics, the economy and culture.”

He also predicted that Russia will achieve “a great victory” against its enemies, mainly Westerners, while praised the “heroic” Russian Army in Ukraine.

“We are convinced that the Russian Army and the Russian people will undoubtedly win a great victory in the sacred struggle to punish the gathering of evil,” he said.

“Our visit comes at a time when a fierce confrontation is taking place on the international scene between progress and reaction, justice and injustice, and when the process of multipolarity of the world is developing vigorously thanks to the common will and the cohesion of independent forces,” Kim added in front of Putin, the AFP agency noted.

Regarding the war with Ukraine, which has been going on for more than a year and a half, he praised the “heroic” Russian Army.

“I am deeply convinced that the heroic Russian army and people will be brilliant heirs of the tradition of victory (…) on the fronts of the special military operation” in Ukraine, he stated.

The meeting took place at the Vostochni cosmodrome, in the Russian province of Amur (east), where Kim arrived on an armored train in keeping with his habit of avoiding air travel for safety reasons.

This is the Kim Jong-un’s second visit to Russia. During the first, in April 2019, she limited herself to visiting the city of Vladivostok and met with Putin on the grounds of the Far Eastern Federal University.
