As of September 1, 2024, the number of hired workers in the Azerbaijani economy was 1 million 754.9 thousand people, of which 878.3 thousand people were in the public sector of the economy, and 876.6 thousand were in the non-state sector.
The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported this to Day.Az on Monday.
It was noted that 18.9 percent of wage earners are employed in the trade sector; repair of vehicles, 18.2 percent – the education sector, 12.8 percent – industry, 8.3 percent – health care and social services to the population, 6.9 percent – construction, 6.4 percent – public administration and defense; social security, 4.3 percent – transport and warehousing, 3.8 percent – professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.3 percent – agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.2 percent – financial and insurance activities, and 14.9 percent – in other sectors of the economy.
“In January-August 2024, the average monthly nominal wage of employees in the Azerbaijani economy increased by 8 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 997.1 manat.
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communications, as well as in the field of scientific and technical activities,” the State Statistics Committee said in a statement.
