Among them, in the seven months of 2024, among the registered newborns, 3846 were boys, which is 13.9% or 619 less than in the corresponding period of 2023, while 3630 were girls, which is a decrease of 13.1% or 546.
In August, 1132 newborns were registered in Latvia, which is 16.8% or 228 less than in the corresponding month of 2023, including 579 boys and 553 girls.
In seven months of this year, 15,556 deaths were registered in Latvia, which is 5.3% or 879 less than in seven months of 2023, when 16,435 deaths were registered.
Thus, the number of deaths registered in seven months this year exceeded the number of births by 8,080, while the number of deaths in the corresponding period of the previous year exceeded the number of births by 7,794.
In the seven months of 2024, 4,823 marriages were registered in Latvia, which is 19.2% or 1,143 marriages less than in the corresponding period of 2023.
This year, on August 1, the provisional population in Latvia was 1.86 million.
