It is a way of avoiding layoffs in companies facing cash flow difficulties, with the State ensuring the payment of salaries for part of its workers. A measure that could be extended to the construction sector. In the remaining areas, the system is only in force until June.
The numbers were released by the Conjuncture Committee this Tuesday. In total, 145 companies requested access to this support, but only 114 requests were accepted. Of this universe, 45 are companies in the construction sector.
There are around nine thousand workers who will be supported in April, compared to 7,920 in the previous month.
The total cost of this support will only be disclosed later. But, for now, the financial costs of this measure for last December are known. Around one million euros were allocated to finance the partial unemployment of 1600 workers, which represents a significant drop compared to the amount spent in November, when the amount reached 2.8 million euros. That month, around three thousand workers were supported.

All things considered, the number of workers supported by partial unemployment in April could represent a cost of more than eight million euros for the State.
According to the note from the economic situation committee, two employment plans were applied to companies in Luxembourg.
