The 44th edition of the Oaxaca International Book Fair (FILO) will return to the place where it was born, that is, to the heart of the city. For this reason, its main headquarters will be the Historic Center of Oaxaca, there Under the Laurel of the Zócalo of Oaxaca de Juárez.
It will be between October 12 and 20 that FILO will continue –thanks to the impetus of private initiative, as the statement points out– with “its festive spirit outdoors, offering a unique experience for Oaxacans, Oaxacans and visitors”. Among all the activities that will take place in this edition, the most notable are book presentations, talks with authors, workshops and discussion panels.

To start this literary and cultural celebration, the FILO has prepared a Writing and Drawing Jam in which Tanya Huntington, Francisco Hinojosa, Mariana Ruiz Johnson and Amanda Mijangos will participate to combine these disciplines from their trenches. They will also present the Oaxacan activist Conception Nunez Miranda he FILO Recognition for Lifetime Achievement.
One of the most significant things about the Oaxaca International Book Fair is its program, as it is divided according to the ages, occupations and interests of its attendees, with the objective of creating a favorable space for everyone to have “access to culture as a universal right for those who visit us.” In addition to this, it is built according to topics that are urgent for its reflection, such as the Culture of Peace, Indigenous languagesEnvironment, FeminismsHuman rights, LGBTIQA+ community, People with disabilities and neurodivergences, Careful and Migration.

Authors, thinkers, linguists, activists, professionals, journalists will be present, among whom the names of Cristina Rivera GarzaYasnaya Elena A.
