Pour compensate for possible difficulties, the Occitanie region has decided to renew its one-euro train ticket operation on the entire TER network for the weekend, Friday 21 October.
Getting closer to the Mediterranean or the Pyrenees will be possible from this weekend, Friday October 21, in Occitania at an unbeatable price: one euro the go easy by regional train. The price is popular in front of Toulouse station (Upper Garonne). “I have friends who come to Toulouse on purpose because there is this one-euro train”, explains a young man. “At present, with the shortage of gasoline, it is much more practical to travel by train”remarked another.
Reservations have been open since last Wednesday. A trip Toulouse-Narbonne therefore costs one euro. The journey by car would cost 29 euros. Last week, under the same conditions, 86,000 train tickets were sold, saving 300,000 liters of petrol. The Occitanie region, at the origin of the operation, has therefore renewed its offer. “What was expected is to be able to move (…) so yes the one euro train is an answer to these different expectations“, says Jean-Luc Gibelin, vice-president of the regional council. For the moment, this is only possible in Occitania, one of the most touristic regions of France.
