The official opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games took place.
As reported by İdman.biz, the event was held outside the stadium on the banks of the Seine for the first time in history.
The main point of the opening was the alternation of the official and artistic parts. With the participation of the legendary footballer Zinedine Zidane, the Olympic torch was delivered to an unknown hero waiting on a boat in the Seine River, with the help of a group of 3 children. The organizers decided to keep the name of the person who would light the torch a secret until the last moment.
The opening ceremony began after the crowd was greeted by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The ceremony, held on the Seine River, began with the departure of 85 ships carrying thousands of athletes from the Austerlitz Bridge. Greece, considered the birthplace of the Olympic Games, walked in front of the podium.
Lady Gaga was the first artist to take to the stage in Paris, performing a classic French cabaret song with the historic Moulin Rouge dance troupe. French contemporary music star Aya Nakamura performed at the Art Bridge, accompanied by the Republican Guard Orchestra.

The Azerbaijani national team, which went to Paris 2024 with 48 athletes, also took part in the parade. Our team was the 16th to pass in front of the spectators. Judoka Gultaj Mamedaliyeva and boxer Magomed Abdullayev were the flag bearers of our team.
It should be noted that the closing ceremony of the Olympics will take place on August 11. About 11 thousand athletes from 206 countries will compete for a total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.
