The Olympic Committee announced today, Wednesday, that the Olympic team will face its Japanese counterpart tomorrow in a friendly match in preparation for the Asian Cup.
The Olympic Committee stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “the Iraqi Olympic football team continues its daily training units in the Qatari capital, Doha, in preparation for participation in the Asian Cup finals for the Olympic teams, which will be held in the Qatari capital, Doha, during the period from 4/15.” /2024 and will continue until May 3, 2024, and is a qualifier for the Paris Olympics this summer.”
She added, “Tomorrow, Thursday, our Olympic team will play a friendly confrontation against its counterpart, the Japanese team, before embarking on the upcoming continental competitions.”
The administrative director of the Olympic team, Abdul-Jabbar Hashem, said, according to the statement: “The training camp, which is being held by the Iraqi National Olympic Committee at its own expense in the capital, Doha, will continue until the start of the Asian Cup competitions on the fifteenth of this month, and 25 players will participate in it,” pointing out, He pointed out that “the aim of holding the training camp is to increase the pace of intensive preparation, and to benefit from it on all technical, physical and psychological levels.”
He stated, “The technical staff seeks to find a harmonious combination of the Olympic team’s elements in line with everyone’s ambitions and aspirations to win one of the qualifying tickets to the Paris Olympics,” noting that “the draw placed Iraq in a difficult group alongside the teams of Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Tajikistan.”
It is noteworthy that our Olympic team held its first training camp at the expense of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee in Basra Governorate, and it continued for (12) days, during which it played two friendly matches with the Police and Naft Basra clubs.
