It is reported that in the first days of the Olympics – from July 24 to 27 – 650,000 tourists visited the city, which is 16% more than last year at the same time.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 17.3%, and the number of foreign visitors – by 14.8%.
The largest influx of foreign tourists was from the USA and Germany, accounting for 15.5% and 6.3%, respectively. Compared to the previous year, the number of German tourists increased by 42%.
Meanwhile, hotel occupancy has increased to 90%, but hotel room prices, similar to other services, continue to fall.
Despite the drop in prices, they are still higher than last year. For comparison, on July 24, the average price of a hotel room was 258 euros, while a year ago in July – 202 euros, and in August – 161 euros.
The Olympic Games will be held in the French capital until August 11.
An increase in tourism is also expected during the Paralympic Games, which will take place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. According to estimates of the Paris Tourist Office, hotel demand will increase by 5-10% during the Paralympic Games.
