The OM-Lyon match, canceled on Sunday in Marseille after the rocking of the Lyonnais’ bus and the injury of OL coach Fabio Grosso, has been set for December 6 in a location which will be determined “at a later date”, announced Thursday the Professional Football League (LFP). “The LFP competitions commission has decided on the one hand, in application of article 544 of the regulations, […] to play this match on Wednesday, December 6, the first date available with regard to the calendar of the two teams, and on the other hand, to subsequently determine the location of this meeting, pending additional elements from the public authorities allowing that it is held in conditions of optimal safety and security for all of its stakeholders and the public,” indicated the LFP in a press release.

OL leaders called for sanctions on Tuesday and explained that they wanted to play the match on neutral ground, believing that “the security conditions for playing in Marseille are not met”.

Three open investigations

The OM-Lyon meeting, counting for the 10th day of Ligue 1, was postponed on Sunday due to the stoning of the OL bus on the way to the stadium during which the club’s Italian coach, Fabio Grosso, was seriously injured. in the face. The technician, who had to have twelve stitches put in, was not in training this Tuesday.

Three investigations were opened by the Marseille prosecutor following these incidents. The first two relate to the rocking of the OL bus and another incident of the same type targeting a Lyon supporters bus. The third targets the behavior of some of the Lyon supporters inside the Vélodrome who made Nazi salutes and uttered monkey cries in the direction of the Marseillais. Referring to the “behavior of Lyon supporters in the visitor area” of the Vélodrome, the LFP disciplinary committee has opened an investigation and will deliver its decision on November 22.
