The Ombudsman called to pay attention to the health of the prisoner Klara Sooronkulova

Ombudsman Atyr Abdrahmatova called on the law enforcement agencies to pay attention to the health of the former judge of the Constitutional Chamber, Klara Sooronkulova, who is in custody in connection with the Kempir-Abad case.

The press service of the institution reported that the staff of the Ombudsperson Institute met with Sooronkulova on March 24, and that she needs rehabilitation after the operation.

He also complained about poor prison conditions.

“Klara Sooronkulova expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that despite the operation, she is being held in the pre-trial detention center. As a result of this meeting, the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Atyr Abdrahmatova called on the relevant state bodies to pay attention to the state of health of Klara Sooronkulova and to take the necessary measures,” the statement said.

Klara Sooronkulova was returned to prison from the hospital on March 15, her lawyer Chinara Zhakupbekova told “Azattyk”. According to him, an operation was performed on Sooronkulova in the hospital, and the doctors concluded that she should not be kept in prison.

On February 20, Sooronkulova was allowed to undergo treatment in the hospital.

On February 17, the First May District Court considered his restraining order and kept him in custody until April 20. Sooronkulova stated in court that she needs an operation due to her health.

He was arrested in connection with the Kempir-Abad case in October last year along with about thirty politicians, human rights defenders, and activists. Four people are under house arrest.
