On January 30, the opening of the personal exhibition of the honored artist, tapestry master Adil Shikhaliyev “My Motherland” took place at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.

As Day.Az reports, about 30 tapestries were presented at the exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the artist’s creative activity.

Speaking at the event, the acting director of the National Carpet Museum, Mira Mamedkhanova, noted that the exhibition presented the works of Adil Shikhaliev “Letter from Karabakh”, “Path of Victory”, “Shusha” (triptych), “My Motherland”, “Wedding in Shusha”, dedicated to important historical events that occurred in the life of our country in the past and in our time, as well as the portrait of “Heydar Aliyev”, the tapestry “Resettlement”, enriched with national ornaments. He noted that the artist’s works are demonstrated at exhibitions held both in Azerbaijan and abroad.

Chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan Farhad Khalilov congratulated the honored artist, noting that he had known Adil Shikhaliyev since his youth.

People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, head of the decorative and applied arts section of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan, carpet maker Aydin Radjabov noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of Adil Shikhaliyev’s creativity; he created works of art dedicated to important events in the life of our country.

Director of the National Museum of Arts of Azerbaijan, curator of the exhibition Shirin Melikova, who spoke at the event, noted that the tapestry master specially prepared new works for this exhibition. She noted that the film, which will be shown at the opening ceremony, includes footage depicting the process of creating works.

Honored artist Adil Shikhaliev said that along with tapestries, the exhibition displays threads that he painted with natural dyes, which gave life to his ideas, and plants used in dyeing.

At the exhibition, viewers got acquainted with works on the Absheron theme: “Pomegranate Garden”, “Mossy Stones”, “Absheron”, “Golden Fish”, which is an important part of the artist’s work, as well as various thematic tapestries with images of real and mythical animals, flowers and trees. Visitors discovered the amazing creative world of the artist, who is a participant in many domestic and foreign exhibitions, who, making maximum use of the capabilities of the tapestry technique, created such works as “Land of Lights” and “Autumn Flowers”.

The exhibition will last until March 6.
