The number of regular flights with several countries on a reciprocal basis will increase in February and March. This decision was made following a meeting of the operational headquarters to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus, which was held by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. Russians will be able to fly more often to Germany, Greece, Hungary and Sri Lanka.

In particular, from February 21, the number of flights to Budapest will increase from 7 to 14 per week from Moscow and from 4 to 7 from St. Petersburg. Planes will fly to Sri Lanka from the capital four times a week instead of two.

From Kaliningrad, the number of flights to Berlin and Dusseldorf will be increased. Flights to the German capital will be carried out six times a week instead of two, and it is planned to operate five flights to Dusseldorf.

In addition, since March 1, air traffic with Greece has been intensifying.

“It was decided to increase the number of regular flights on a reciprocal basis to Greece on the routes Moscow – Corfu from 4 to 7 flights per week, Moscow – Mykonos with a frequency of 4 flights per week, St. Petersburg – Athens, St. Petersburg – Thessaloniki, Zhukovsky – Heraklion, Yekaterinburg – Heraklion with a frequency of 2 flights per week on each route, ”the decision of the operational headquarters follows. In the spring, the restriction on regular and charter flights to Cyprus is also lifted.

In Russia, from February 21, flights from the international airports of Nizhnevartovsk, Stavropol, Khanty-Mansiysk, Yakutsk and Abakan will resume.

Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) committee on emergencies related to COVID-19 called international travel restrictions ineffective in combating the spread of the omicron coronavirus strain. According to WHO, they need to be abolished or weakened.
