The chain of biosupermercats Nana closed its doors for good last Tuesday, January 31. The Girona company puts an end to a stage of 28 years with several establishments spread across the demarcation. “There is great sadness and anger at having to close the shopss, disappointment and a lot of sadness, but we have tried for many, many months and we have not found a way to find a solution,” explained the company through its social networks.

Nana Biosupermercats was born in 1995 with a shop of about 40 m² on Carrer Major de Palamós. In addition to the establishment in Palamós, the company had, until a few days ago, stores in Girona, Figueres and Olot.

The company was founded by Joan Bonillo and Núria Weitzmannwho chose to name the company Nana, nickname given to its founder as a child. The company grew and, in addition to the stores opened before its final closure, the chain also had establishments in places such as Platja d’Aro or Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

“Many thanks to all the customers who have supported us during all these years, and I hope that the new stage, whatever it may be, will bring us all new goals and hopes,” the company said in a statement on social media. “I will never forget the many, many customers who have become great acquaintances and some great friends over the years. Thank you all!” he added. In addition, the company has also thanked the work done by the more than 100 workers who have passed through Nana during these 28 years.
