Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The Investigation Department reported the implementation of a qualitative operation in the Central Region Customs Department, which resulted in the arrest of (9) suspects, pointing out that among them is a director in the department and members of the detection committee.
The department indicated that the Control Division in the Baghdad Investigation Directorate carried out three simultaneous operations in the Central Region Customs Department located in Abu Ghraib to control violations in the process of completing transactions for changing the chassis numbers of a number of vehicles without requesting their presence, indicating that after conducting surveillance and investigation, and setting up elaborate ambushes, The operations were carried out and the suspects involved were seized.
She added that the director of the automobile department in the customs department was arrested for transferring the vehicles to the inspection committee without bringing them or entering them to the department, and three suspects, who are members of the inspection committee, were arrested after they signed the inspection forms without the presence of the vehicles, in addition to the arrest of another customs employee after Requesting sums of money in exchange for promoting transactions.
And she added that the operation also resulted in the arrest of three commentators working in the customs office, who were caught red-handed while receiving a sum of money as a bribe, pointing to the arrest of a fourth commentator who received the transactions and promoted them without bringing the vehicles to the site.
And she added that an arrest report was prepared and presented, along with the defendants, to the judge of the Second Karkh Investigation Court. To decide their fate in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983).
