At that time Nikunj Convention Hall owner Harij Mahmud said, I am the owner of Nikunj Convention Hall, my partner is Monir Hossain. We are the owner of City Dental College Dr. I signed the registry on the condition of purchasing three and a half floors from the upper side of the building for convention hall on June 27, 2021 from ASM Badruddoja. We have been conducting business in the convention hall as per the conditions mentioned in the statement. Later, when it was time for the registry, Dr. Badruddoja shows the power of Awami League and wants to shut down our ongoing business (Nikunj Convention Hall) without registering it and evict it unfairly. We resorted to court and after a long hearing, the High Court ruled in favor of Nikunj Convention Hall on November 20, 2023 and issued an injunction to the effect that the ongoing business of Nikunj Convention Hall cannot be disrupted.

He said, last August 31 around 11:30 am. Badroddoja along with his office staff entered the Nikunj Convention Hall with 20-25 people and carried out extensive looting and vandalism. Immediately I informed Khilkhet police station, RAB and army camp. After 25-30 minutes, the OC of Khilkhet Police Station along with his force reached the spot and brought the situation under control. At this time he me and Dr. Badroddoja is asked to discuss among themselves to solve the problem. But, the day after Dr. Badaroddoja people came and asked me to close the convention hall within seven days or else they will evict the Nikunj convention hall. However, the owner of the college himself called us and sold three and a half floors to us and now wants to evict us unfairly. We are holding a week-long sit-in program to protest against this illegal eviction and oppression.

Harij Mahmud also said, the livelihood of hundreds of families including me and staff is involved with Nikunj Convention Hall. We pay regular VAT and taxes. The main agenda of the current government is to move the country forward. For which the government is giving various support in business. Hopefully, the government will extend a helping hand towards us.
