/ Barcelona Club announced today, Saturday, that Spanish left-back Alejandro Balde will undergo surgery on the posterior muscles of his right thigh in the coming few days, which means the end of the player’s season with his team, to join his colleague Gavi.
The injury reduces Balde’s chances of participating with his country’s national team in the European Football Cup next summer in Germany.
The 20-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the Copa del Rey quarter-final, which Barcelona lost 4-2 to Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
Spanish newspapers reported that the player’s season has ended, and he will undergo surgery by a Finnish surgeon.
