TAKALAR – The ketinting boat competition attracted hundreds of pairs of eyes in Laikang Bay, Manngaranombang District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi. Spectators were seen spilling out along Laikang Bay since the morning.
In fact, they are willing to be hot in the heat to see first hand the actions of the contestants. “It is hoped that the enthusiasm of the audience will revive the economy of the surrounding community who sell a variety of local products,” said Regional Coordinator of the Panrannuangku Support Ganjar Movement Amir Irwan when directly opening the Ketinting Ship Competition, Saturday (29/7/2023).
Amir appreciated and welcomed the collaboration with residents in making the event a success. This activity can strengthen friendship between communities and will be a great potential in reviving culture-based community sports.
“This has become a tradition, especially in Laikang Village. We appreciate the enthusiasm of the residents who come and support this event properly,” he said.
There were dozens of boats that were involved in the activities that had been recorded a few days earlier.
Amir hopes that sports activities such as the Ketinting Boat Race Competition can be carried out regularly. The aim is to be able to give birth to new seeds, namely boat and ketinting athletes who can compete in national and international events.
In the future, volunteers will continue to consolidate in the local area to socialize Ganjar Pranowo. Also implementing social and economic empowerment programs in the local area.
“We want people to increase their economic turnover, and traditions like this to become more widely known to foreign countries,” he said.
