The PAP holds an ordinary session from June 24 to July 5 in Johannesburg

Johannesburg – The Pan African Parliament (PAP), the legislative arm of the African Union (AU), will hold its 3rd ordinary session of the 6th legislature, from June 24 to July 5 at the institution’s headquarters in Midrand, South Africa.

This plenary session will meet under the theme of the African Union (AU) for 2024: “Educating an Africa fit for the 21st century: building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality learning and relevant in Africa,” the legislative institution said in a press release.

She added that this conclave, which will take place as part of the 20th anniversary of the PAP, will be marked by meetings of the eleven standing committees of the Continental Parliament.

In addition to Pan-African deputies, this ordinary session will see the participation of government representatives, civil society organizations, academics, organs and institutions of the African Union, UN agencies and the diplomatic corps.

The Pan-African Parliament is a consultative assembly of the African Union which brings together deputies from member countries of the African Union. It was established under Article 5 of the Constitutive Act of the AU and officially installed on March 18, 2004.

Each member state is represented within the PAP by five parliamentarians from the majority and the opposition, including at least one woman, elected or designated by their national parliaments or legislative bodies.
