The parents of a premature baby taken from his incubator in a hospital near Paris were arrested this Friday in the Netherlands after an intensive three-day search in France and several neighboring countries, according to Efe.
The parents were arrested by Dutch police in a hotel in the region of Amsterdam and the child is well and is hospitalized, the public prosecutor’s office in Bobigny, near Paris, said in a statement last night.
The little one, called Santiago and defined by doctors as “very premature”, disappeared last Tuesday from his incubatorfor which a national alert was issued for child abduction.

Since the parents come from Serbian origin and belong to what is called “nomadic people” in France, the authorities issued a European arrest warrant, believing they may have an international support network.
The parents’ car was found on Wednesday near the Belgian city of Charleroiso the authorities of the neighboring country also opened an investigation.
The public prosecutor of the Belgian city of Mons, Vincent Macq, stated this Saturday that the family has been located in a hotel room in the Amsterdam area e that the arrest of the parents occurred “without incident”.
There were also in the roomthe child’s maternal grandmother and two other children of the family, Macq added in a press conference broadcast on French television.
The Belgian prosecutor assured that they worked “like crazy during these three days. We are exhausted, but also happy, proud and happy” with the result of the international operation.
On Thursday, Bobigny prosecutor Éric Mathais made a televised appeal to parents to take their child to hospital as soon as possible. “For the sake of the child, they must take him to the nearest hospital immediately,” he urged.
The French prosecutor’s office is keeping an investigation open into the kidnapping and detention of a minor in an organized gang.
Three people close to the parents were arrested on Tuesday near Paris for their alleged complicity, and on Thursday an investigating judge indicted two of them, an adult and a minor, and ordered provisional detention for both.
