A new era for the presidential party. La République en Marche will decide on September 17, during a congress at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, on its announced transformation into a new party, Renaissance, whose leadership will give pride of place to the government and Emmanuel Macron will be the president of honor.

“On September 16 and 17, our activists will be called upon to vote on our new statutes, the new direction and the charter of values. The results will be announced on September 17 during a congress at the Carrousel du Louvre”, announces, in an interview with Parisianthe president of the Renaissance group in the European Parliament, Stéphane Séjourné.

A new direction

“The President of the Republic will be the honorary president and I will propose to the militants to elect a direction of which I will be the secretary general”, specifies Stéphane Séjourné daily. Without competition, this former collaborator of the Head of State (37 years old), MEP since 2019, will be “surrounded by deputy secretaries general with strong personalities and who embody different sensibilities. »

“Bruno Le Maire will be in charge of ideas. Amélie de Montchalin will take care of external relations, Gérald Darmanin will have the training, Bérangère Couillard the relations with the members, Olivier Dussopt the departmental structuring of the party, Aurore Bergé the response, Franck Riester on the elections, Fabienne Keller the mobilization, Clément Beaune international and Europe or even Brigitte Bourguignon the coordination of major causes”, and Pascal Canfin will be “in charge of relations with the government”, he listed.

Towards a future candidate in 2027

Emmanuel Macron’s party continues its unprecedented trajectory. Created just one year before his accession to the Élysée in 2017, an instrument for his re-election in 2022, it is reinventing itself while its founder will not be able to seek a third presidential term in 2027.

Renaissance, a name already adopted in the Assembly, also lost an absolute majority in June. On the party side, François Bayrou’s Modem and Edouard Philippe’s Horizons remain independent allies. On the other hand, must regroup under Renaissance La République en Marche, Agir, center-right party chaired by the minister (ex-LR) Franck Riester, and Territories of Progress, center-left party led by his colleague (ex-PS) Olivier Dussopt.

“Territoire de progress and Agir activists can trust me: I will be the guarantor of the expression of sensitivities”, declared Stéphane Séjourné, while the question of a merger or a confederative structure has was addressed during a seminar on Saturday in Metz. Renaissance “will be intended to present a candidate for the presidential election. This moment will come after the Europeans,” said Stéphane Séjourné.
